Ombre Hair: Yay or Nay?

Hello everyone! I was pondering what I would do my next blogpost on and I figured I would go in a different direction and talk about hair. So the latest hair trend is ombre hair. I have to say that I used to have a love/hate relationship with ombre hair. If you don't know what ombre hair is generally darker at the roots and then it gets lighter in colour as you get closer to the bottom. Before I thought ombre hair looked messy and unkept but it really has grown on me. It is an ideal solution if you want to create texture and volume.
Many celebrities have been seen sporting the ombre hair trend including: Alexa Chung, Rachel Bilson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Lauren Conrad.

For the last few weeks, I have been pondering whether I should follow this trend, but I think I will go ahead because if I don't like it, it will grow out or I can just re-dye it. But one thing's for sure...
If I do go ahead with the ombre hair do, I will most definetly do a blogpost with lots of pictures!!

Until next time...

Spring has Arrived!

Hi everyone! so as you should know... this weekend, the clocks went forward and I always think that when the clocks change, Spring is officially here!

Spring is my favourite season because when you wake up it's bright, the weather starts getting better and everyone seems to be in a better mood.

But the absolute best thing about Spring is that it marks a new beginning for fashion. Spring sees an end to heavy Winter clothing and gives us all an excuse to go on a shopping spree to refresh out wardrobes. I love seeing the skirts, shorts and dresses coming back into the shops. It makes Summer feel that little bit closer!

What about you, do you like Spring? Have you bought any new clothes for this season?
My next blogpost will be about my Spring fashion spree!

Until next time...

€7.50 off No7 or Ruby and Millie??

So last week I bought something in Boots and when I was getting my change, the cashier gave me a voucher for €7.50 off either No7 or Ruby and Millie.

I was delighted so I walked straight back into the shop and went to the No7 stand as my Boots doesn't have a good amount of Rubie and Millie . I was thinking for ages about what I would buy and in the end. Eventually I went for a No7's stay perfect mascara in brown.

What they say: For mascara that lasts the whole day through, giving your lashes great definition all day and then washes away when you want it to.

What I say: This mascara was easy to apply and didn't clump. The mascara thickens, lengthens and curls at an average level .(what you would expect from a drugstore mascara) But what I loved the most was it's staying power. The mascara stays on all day and then can be easily removed in the evening. Also it was my first time trying brown mascara and it really did look more natural! So overall a very good mascara :)
Available from Boots €11.99

I hope you enjoyed this review!

How to Find Jeans for Your Body Shape

If there is one thing I hate shopping for it's jeans. I can never find the perfect jeans they're always the thing I dread going shopping for and even after trying on about a million pairs, I still leave the shops with no jeans having not found the right pair. In this post I am going to write about how to find jeans to suit your body shape and hopefully this will help others in a similar situation as me.

I am starting of with the pear shape. Usually pear shaped people are bigger on their bottom half and smaller on their top half. Bootcut is a good style for pear shapes. Also I would recommend not going for white or bright coloured jeans as pear shapes should keep lighter colours on top and darker colours on the bottom.  Go for a darker wash jeans. This will bring attention to your upper half and will even out your shape.

Bootcut jeans

Next is the apple shape. If you are an apple shape, chances are you are bigger on top and have slimmer legs. I suggest flared jeans or jeans with a wider leg as this will balance out your shape. You don't want to wear jeans that make you look really big on the top and really small on the bottom. Apple shapes should avoid skinny jeans.

Wide-legged jeans

Petite girls should beware of boyfriend jeans or any jeans that have a cropped leg, because chances are (if you are a petite girl) you will be a that little bit shorter. By wearing cropped/boyfriend jeans this will make your legs appear even shorter. Bootcut jeans can help create some volume/curves and will add to your height.

Cropped jeans are a no-no

Hourglass shapes usually have bigger hips, so I would avoid low rise jeans as this will make your hips appear bigger. Hourglass shapes should choose high waisted jeans or atleast jeans that come to your belly-button. If you are a curvier hourglass shape, bootcut jeans are a good style for you and will lengthen your legs.

High waisted jeans

And last but not least is the boyish shape. Boyish shapes are in luck as you can wear almost any jean style! But flared trousers will give the illusion of a curvier body and will give you more volume. Again you are very lucky as the boyish shape can wear skinny jeans and low rise jeans and pull it off!

I hope that this will help you find your perfect pair of jeans, whatever your shape!

OPI Shatter Polish Review

Hello everyone! There was recently so much hype about OPI's new shatter polish so I decided I would check it out for myself and then I would do a quick post on it! You can find out more about the collection here. OPI isn't available here in Ireland, so I bought mine on asos. I purchased the colour  "Black Shatter".

If you haven't heard of this nail polish, basically what it does is create a shattered effect on you nails. You just apply a coat of any colour/any brand of nail polish on your nails, wait for it to dry, then you paint of coat of your OPI nail polish on top and right before your eyes the nail polish will begin to shatter and crack! Sounds too good to be true, right?
...
WRONG!!
Before I tried it I thought this nail polish would create an unkept, chipped look. But I was proved wrong. It dried very quickly and my nails turned out exactly like the lid on the bottle (see above!) I have nothing bad to say about this product, only if you prefer a smooth look I would recommend applying a clear topcoat to finish.

Hope you enjoyed!

February Favourites 2011!

I can't believe another month has passed already! Seems like yesterday I did my January Favourites... anyway... hope you enjoy!

Okay so the first thing I have been loving this month is the L'Oreal studio secrets anti-redness primer
Boots €14.99
This is a primer, that goes over your moisturiser and under your makeup, but it is green in colour. This helps conceal any redness. I was a bit sceptical when I heard about it but, it is brilliant, it covers all my redness and gives me a smooth canvas for my makeup. It is a bit pricey, but it's well worth it.

My next favorite is the TRESemmé heat protectant spray. Available from Boots €6.99. I use this every time I use heat styling tools. It's a good product, but can be a bit sticky if you use too much. it seems to be protecting my hair as I haven't got any split/dead ends yet!

My third favourite is my Red Converse, I bought them at the end of January and I think I have worn them every day of this month! I love them because they are so comfy and go with nearly everything! Available from Schuh €45

BarryM nail paint in the colour mint green/no 304. I originally bought this nail polish based on it's colour. It's a lovely mint green. This needs a basecoat of clear polish as it stains your nails. Also it needs to be built up layer by layer, but when it is completely finished, it looks great! I bought this in Boots on special offer for 2 for €8 (or one for €4.50)

Natural Collection Pressed Powder in the colour neutral. I have tried a few pressed powders, both cheap and expensive, but this is my favourite of them all. It comes in 3 shades. It sets my makeup lovely and creates a matte finish. I never have to re-apply (but I have dry skin so maybe it's different for those who have oily) Available from Boots for €2.99

Benefit eyeshadow in the colour blushing bride. I love this eyeshadow, it is really pigmented and I know it doesn't matter, but the packaging is so cute! This eyeshadow doesn't crease, is longlasting and there is little fallout! It applies smoothly and looks natural, it's great for daytime looks. Available from any benefit counter for €12

OPI moisturisers in the scents; grapefruit juice and cran & berry juice. I know these aren't available everywhere, but I got these off my friend. They are very moisturising and they are very true to their scent. After using these, I stay moisturised for hours after.

Rimmel The Max Volume Flash Mascara in the colour 001 Ultra Black, available from Boots €7.99 The wand is a medium size, which gets all your lashes, even the smallest! The mascara itself is not clumpy and dries quickly. The only negative I have is that it's not waterproof!

Stripey tops. I have always preferred stripes to spots, but for some reason, I have been wearing more stripes than usual! These are just a few of my favourites:

That's my February Favourites! Hope you enjoyed!

Until next time...
Laura :)
