Product Review-Tinted Moisturiser

I'm just doing a quick overview of Nivea Visage Tinted Moisturiser Day Cream in the colour natural (50ml) available from Boots around €7 or €8

What they say: Moisturiser 24h, evens skintone for a healthy looking complexion. With light reflecting pigments, Hydramine & Vitamin E.

What I say: This tinted moisturiser gives medium coverage, looks very natural, is for all skin types gives your skin a lovely dewy glow and it evens out any imperfections. The only bad things I have to say about this product is that it is a little hard to apply (it gets easier with practice!) and it doesn't have SPF. But overall this is a good product for the price and it does what it says it does.

Until next time...

Swimsuit guide for your shape

I know summer seems a long time away, but all the shops have already brought in all their swimwear! So there are 4 main body types: apple, pear, hourglass, and athletic.
If you are apple shaped, most of your weight is on your stomach and your legs are slim. You would have a top-heavy appearance.
Swimwear for you... you should show off your slim legs, you can make them look longer by wearing high waisted bikini bottoms, as for the top, tankini's are best they will cover your stomach and by choosing prints and darker colours, you will look even slimmer.

If you are pear shaped your chest and shoulders would be narrower than your waist. Most of  your weight would be below your waistline. You would have a defined waist.
Swimwear for you... you should try to slim down your bottom half and create curves on the top half.
For your upper half, you should try bright colours to draw attention to your upper half. As for the bottom, try darker colours to create a slim look, this will also give you slimmer looking legs.

If you are hourglass shaped your waist will be more defined while your chest and hips will be of the same ratio.
Swimwear for you... Really any type of swimsuit, bikini or tankini will suit you! But if you want to define your curves, wear swimwear that is matching or the one colour, but other than that, you can wear what you want!

If you are athletic shaped you would be pretty much the same measurements from shoulders to hips. You are slender in most parts.
Swimwear for you... you can create curves with bold colours, halternecks also create curves. you could try padded bikini tops and you could also try frills as they also create curves.

I hope that helped! Be confident whatever your shape! Happy shopping!

Until next time...

My Makeup Storage

This post isn't exactly fashion related, but I recently re-organised my makeup storage and I thought I would do a quick post on it. I don't have the biggest makeup collection in the world, I really only have the essentials. Anyway I hope you enjoy!

I bought this 3 drawers storage unit in Heatons today for €10. You can see the unit here. I know Heatons isn't a worldwide shop, but these type of storage units are very common and usually available in most department or home furnishing stores.

As you can see in the picture, there are 3 drawers, but you could buy units with 4 or 5 drawers. I have divided my unit into eyes, lips and face, and I have placed my makeup into the corresponding drawers. My makeup storage isn't the most original, but it does the job and that's all I want! I know that I haven't included my own pictures, but if there are enough requests, I will do a more detailed post into my makeup collection

Until next time...

Top 5 Accessories

Hello everyone! Today's post is about my top 5 accessories. I decided to do a post about accessories because in fashion, accessories can sometimes be more important than the outfit itself! Anyway, here is my list.

Handbag: Your handbag is like a vessel that carries your most prized possessions, so invest in your bag and you could have it for years. I don't think you should buy a bag based on looks. Before you buy, check that you are happy with it's size, the pockets, the fasteners etc. these things may sound insignificant, but chances are you will bring this bag everywhere, so you want it to be up to scratch!

Scarves: You can add a scarf to almost any outfit, scarves make an outfit look polished and complete. A scarf can also incorporate the latest fashion trend into your outfit, so for example if you love  leopard print, but are too afraid to wear a leopard print jacket a scarf is the perfect way to go. Ensure you have a wide range of scarves and you're good to go!
Jewellery: Personally, I think jewellery is the most important accessory you can have. Every girl should have a minimum amount of jewellery. Here are some examples: a watch, pearl/diamond earrings, chunky bracelet, bangles, stack rings so you can mix & match and finally a diamond pendant necklace. These are just a few suggestions, whether you choose something out of this list or another, make sure you have a few key pieces of jewellery as they can really make n outfit.

Shoes: Some people don't count shoes as an accessory, but I do!! Shoes are something that you have to invest in, you spend most of the day on your feet. The following are what I think are the basics for your shoe collection: black pumps, boots(uggs or leather whatever you prefer!), black stilettos, wedges, sandals(gladiators are a good option), a good pair of trainers and a pair of canvas shoes. Again, this is my opinion, you don't have to buy every single pair of shoes on the list, it's just a guide.

Belts: A belt will give any plain outfit a lift. There are many options when it come to belts but there are two main types: a skinny belt, and a wide belt. A skinny belt goes with cardigans(long or short), dresses, button-down shirt, blouses, high waisted skirts or trousers. A wide belt is more waist cinching and goes with basically the same as skinny belts, but ensure not to wear it to tight and wear it on your natural waistline as it looks best.

Until next time...

2011 Colour Trends

My previous post was about what fashion trends are in for this Spring/Summer. This post will be about the colour trends of 2011.
I thinks that this season, it's all about standing out. Colours should be bright and bold.

The main colours for Spring/Summer 2011 are...

  • Blue: This season it's not about boring blues; Think aqua/navy blues.
  • Orange: This is a lovely colour and will definitely make you stand out!
  • White: a classic colour that is so easy to wear. White will always be an on-trend colour every season.
  • Yellow: a hard colour to wear, but there are many different shades from pastel to mustard yellow so find one that's right for you!
  • Earthy colours: There are so many to choose from. Sands, beige's, nudes, the list is endless!
  • Pink: reddish pink (also known as honeysuckle pinks) are on trend this season.
That's it! Hope you liked,

Until next time...

2011 Fashion Trends

There have been many fashion events this year, and I think the following are trends that were seen across the board in all fashion shows.

  • 70's style is back: Whether you like it or not, it's true. I have a seperate post on 70's fashion and you can read it here
  • Prints: This spring continues the trend of prints. Go for bright and bold prints, whether it's tiger, leopard or floral print, if you've got prints... wear them!
  • Think longer: Forget minis and knee length skirts and dresses, longer hemlines are in this season. Skirts and dresses that fall just below the knee or are calve length are very classy and elegant.
  • Loungewear: The catwalks this season have been full of pyjama inspired clothing. Items like nightgown dresses and loose, casual trousers with matching tops. This look is kind of hard to pull off, but don't knock it 'til you try it!
  • Minimalistic Minimilism: Another trend for 2011 is minimalism. Minimalist clothes should be simple and less complicated, that means no fussy patterns and frills. Think smart yet futuristic clothing in colours such as white neutrals and blacks.
  • Intense colour: With every new season, comes a new colour palette, and this season is no different! 2011 brings bold, stand-outish colours, my next post will include this years "on trend" colours.
Hope you liked,

Until next time...
Laura :)

Upcoming Trend: Pastels

I have noticed that pastel colours are getting very popular this spring. This is one trend that you can wear head to toe, but it is difficult to pull off. Remember not to match contrasting pastels together like pinks & purples. Don't pair pastels with black and neons, pastels are meant to be girly so keep them light and colourful. When wearing pastels wear them with modern chic jewellery, silver looks better than gold, but avoid pearls as this can look to young/childish. Here are a few examples:
Purple stud court shoes
River Island

Rose Lace Trim Cami Top

Apricot Silk Crepe Shirt

As you can see this year the peachy/pinks are in, but you will find lots of other pastel colours in shops, these are just a few examples.

Until next time...
