The Royal Wedding

So, unless you were living under a rock for the last 6 months,  you would have know that there was a royal wedding planned and you will know that the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton took place yesterday (29th of April 2011) It was all over the television, radio and papers (you could not have avoided it!)

I think the moment that most people were waiting for was when she stepped out of the car at 11am at Westminster Abbey to debut her wedding dress and personally, I loved it!

The wedding dress had been kept a secret for a long time there had been many speculations as to what it would be like and who designed it. Some said she had 3 dresses (in case one was leaked to the press) and others said she designed it herself!

Her veil was made of layers of tulle, held in place by a Cartier 'Halo' tiara (lent to her by the Queen) The dress was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander Mc Queen. The ivory and white satin dress had long lace sleeves and the front was cut in a low V shape. The dress also had an ivory bodice which narrowed at the waist and had padded hips (which is a very Victorian tradition) The skirt of the dress was also decorated with lace flowers. The train carried by her sister Pippa, (who also wore Alexander Mc Queen) was over 6 feet long. I thought the dress was modern yet traditional. I think Kate would've looked stunning in anything, but yesterday she beamed radiantly as she married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge.

Did you watch the wedding? What did you think of her dress?

Until next time...

Wella Shaders and Toners

Wella Shaders and Toners are sachets of non-permanent hair dye, available from most drugstores and supermarkets. They are priced very cheaply (I got mine in Boots for €1.20) The shade I bought is rich mahogany.

The directions are to lather the dye into wet hair (just like shampoo) and leave for 5 minutes and then you rinse.
I did a strand test and for me, 5 minutes wasn't long enough (the colour wasn't as strong as I would've liked) so I left it for 15 minutes and these were the results:

I am delighted with the way it turned out and so far the colour is lasting well (it didn't turn out as bright as the picture on the packet, but I like it!) I would definitely recommend Wella Shaders and Toners if you would like a quick, non-damaging (for both your hair and your wallet!) change to your hair.

Until next time...

How I Store My Makeup Brushes

Hellooo Everybody!!
Today's post is about storing make-up brushes. Before I found out about this method, my make-up brushes were left scattered around (which is damaging and reduces your brushes life) Its very easy to do, what I did was got a chipped mug I wasn't using anymore and I filled it with rice. This method ensures your brushes stay upright and won't get damaged. My method of using rice is cheaper, but if you want you could get a fancy glass/vase and fill it with colourful bath salts but if you look around you can buy special beads especially for this purpose! Hope you found this helpful!

Until next time...

OOTD and My Trip To Howth!

Hi!! I haven't blogged in a while mainly because I didn't have any inspiration and didn't know what to blog about. But I decided I would just blog about what I did yesterday. (Saturday)

So, I spent my weekend on the beach  in Howth. The temperature was 20 degrees (Celsius). It was so hot! That's probably not warm for alot of people, but here in Ireland, 20 degrees is like a heatwave! Here are a few pictures of the beach

Random dog on the beach!

Here is what I was wearing:
  • Black boyfriend cardigan
  • Black and white stripey top
  • Denim shorts
  • Black tights
  • Red converse

March Favourites 2011!

The title says it all... my March Favourites... enjoy!

Leopard Print Wellies-Dunnes Stores €15
Wellies are always handy to have and they are always in the shop this time of year for the music festivals, and there are so many designs available. So get yourself a pair NOW!

Cadbury's Highlights Hot Chocolate Powder-Box of Ten Sachets Tesco €2.49
MMM... this hot chocolate has been my top favourite for March. There are only 40 calories per sachet! The hot chocolate is really creamy and chocolatey. And for a special treat, I add mini marshmallows!

17 Eyeyshadow Trio(Metallic Toffee)-Boots €7.49
I picked this up because of the beautiful colours. The eyeshadows are really pigmented and shimmery (this trio is also available in matte shades) This eyeshadow trio creates a natural look, quick and easy look. I use the lightest colour as a highlight, the medium colour for the middle of the eyelid and the darkest colour for the outer lid, then blend.

No7 Kabuki Brush-Boots €14.95
My favourite makeup brush! This is made with natural hair. It applies my powder and bronzer evenly and smoothly. The bristles are dense ans very soft and create a professional look every time! I clean it the same as my other brushes and leave it to air dry.

Sally Hansen Spray Tan-Dunnes Stores/Boots €14.99
I bought this because I was fed up with applying build-up tan for days and then it ends up streaky. The shade is for light skin, but I found it a little orange. It sprays on and you just blend it. It then dries in 60 seconds to create an airbrushed look!

Bio Oil-Boots €15.95
This product is supposed to prevent scarring, reduce stretch marks and help hydrate your skin. Bio Oil is amazing, it reduced my scar and I use it when my skin is going through a dry period. I haven't yet tried it on stretch marks-but I will let you know if it works!

No7 Stay Perfect Mascara-Boots €11.99
I bought this mascara with a voucher and I did a review on it. You can read that here.

Johnson's Exfoliating Face Wash-Boots €5
I use this once weekly to wash away my dead skin cells. After usage, my skin is smooth and clear. I wouldn't recommend this as a daily wash as I think it would be too rough. But overall, a good cleanser and exfoliator!
Makeup Bag-Dunnes Stores €4
Not much I can say: a good sized bag with a lovely floral pattern. It holds all the essentials and is easy to clean, which is always a plus... I'm a very messy person, I get my makeup everywhere!!

Thats it!
I hope you enjoyed,
Until next time...
Laura :)
