Time for a change!

Okay, so this is not a subject that I would usually blog about, but I hope you like it!

For a while, the colour scheme of my bedroom has been cream and pink, and although I like it, I am getting abit bored of it.
I was unsure what way I would re-decorate my room, but now I have settled on shabby chic. I think shabby chic is underrated, I think it is timeless and doesn't ever seem to go out of fashion.

If you don't know what shabby chic is, I have taken the liberty to look up a definition:

"Shabby chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, minimalistic, and feminine feel is emphasized to differentiate it from regular vintage decor; hence the "chic" in the name."

Here are a few pictures that have inspired me and that I hope to base my bedroom on:

There are many shops that sell shabby chic/vintage items and I have already collected a few furnishings/accessories!
I'm so excited to see if I have any interior design skills, and of course when I have transformed my room, I will be doing a blogpost!

Until next time...

Weekend Shennanigans :)

Just a quick update of what I will be doing tomorrow... I had already done a post about this but for some reason, it doesn't appear on my blog anymore!

Anyway... tomorrow, I will be getting my eyebrows done at Benefit Brow Bar.

Awhile ago I noticed my eyebrows were sparse and didn't have any shape so now (after 6 months of growing them out) I am taking the plunge and getting them waxed! I can't wait and I am dying to see how they turn out. I am going to go for the Hollywood arch (€14) which (quote) shapes your eyebrows to make your eyes look like you got an eyelift!

Keep an eye out for my post about the results and a review of the Benefit Brow Bar!

Until next time...

April Favourties 2011

I hope you enjoy my April Favourites!

TRESemmé dry shampoo: I really like this dry shampoo, I had tried a few others like Bastiste and Boots own brand, but this is my favourite. You just spray it it, brush it out 30 seconds later and you really see an improvement in your hair. Available from Boots €6.99

White Shirts: (Not pictured) I picked up this shirt in Penneys for €13, because you can never have too many! White shirts are very versatile, you can create so many looks-either casual or dressy.
Philips Pro Volume Hairdryer: I love, love, love this hairdryer! I got it from Argos for €33.99. It is 2100 Watts, has 3 heat settings and its ceramic and ionic (to create shiny smooth hair) and it also comes with a round brush and a diffuser.

Catrice Gel Eyeliner: I got this eyeliner from Dunnes Stores for €4.49 although it is also available in many other drugstores. The colour I got was Black Jack with Jack Black, this eyeliner is a perfect dupe for MAC's Fluidline. It's easy to apply, is quick drying, non-smudging, and VERY long lasting.

Sure Women Anti-Perspirant: I usually go for roll-on deodorant but these were on special offer (2 for €2.50) at Boots. I got cool pink and dry cotton. They provide long lasting protection against any wetness or odours! The scents are very fresh and the bottle has a lock setting which I thought was very handy! Overall I am happy with these products.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzing Compact Powder: I got this in Boots for €7.29. This bronzer creates a very natural, sun kissed look it can also be used to enhance an existing tan. I am happy with the coverage, and it stays put all day long.

Compeed Blister Plasters: Available from Boots €7.50 (there are 5 plasters in a pack) These plasters are used to prevent blisters and to help heal existing blisters. They may be expensive, but they're worth it. These plasters are rubbery/jellyish  and work much better than fabric plasters. I couldn't feel my blisters any more as soon as I put these on. They stopped the blister in it's tracks and helped it heal quickly.

Well that's it... hope you enjoyed!

Until next time...

The Royal Wedding

So, unless you were living under a rock for the last 6 months,  you would have know that there was a royal wedding planned and you will know that the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton took place yesterday (29th of April 2011) It was all over the television, radio and papers (you could not have avoided it!)

I think the moment that most people were waiting for was when she stepped out of the car at 11am at Westminster Abbey to debut her wedding dress and personally, I loved it!

The wedding dress had been kept a secret for a long time there had been many speculations as to what it would be like and who designed it. Some said she had 3 dresses (in case one was leaked to the press) and others said she designed it herself!

Her veil was made of layers of tulle, held in place by a Cartier 'Halo' tiara (lent to her by the Queen) The dress was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander Mc Queen. The ivory and white satin dress had long lace sleeves and the front was cut in a low V shape. The dress also had an ivory bodice which narrowed at the waist and had padded hips (which is a very Victorian tradition) The skirt of the dress was also decorated with lace flowers. The train carried by her sister Pippa, (who also wore Alexander Mc Queen) was over 6 feet long. I thought the dress was modern yet traditional. I think Kate would've looked stunning in anything, but yesterday she beamed radiantly as she married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge.

Did you watch the wedding? What did you think of her dress?

Until next time...
Laura :)
